Applying for compounds

(pre-clinical evaluation in the area of rare diseases)

This call for proposals is intended for European academic scientists working on a rare disease, or a defined group of rare diseases, and who would access to compounds that have been or are being developed by pharmaceutical companies. Proposals should address the specific evaluation of chosen compounds in vitro or in animal models, based on pharmacological and/or physiopathological hypothesis.

Compounds will be supplied as part of the European Rare Diseases Therapeutic Initiative (ERDITI), a partnership between European academic institutions and pharmaceutical companies established to develop drugs for the treatment of rare diseases. Under the sponsorship of the European Science Foundation (ESF) and coordinated by GIS - Institut des maladies rares (French Institute for Rare Diseases Research), ERDITI is based on a charter defining the collaborative agreement between public and private partners. Before submitting a proposal, applicants are requested to ensure that applying for compounds under the ERDITI public/private partnership is permitted by their academic institution.

A scientific board will assess the suitability of the proposals and provide advice if necessary. This is not a full evaluation of the scientific project. The scientific board guarantees full confidentiality.

After approval, the academic team and the pharmaceutical company will negotiate an agreement on the basis of the standard material transfer agreement, which incorporates intellectual and industrial property rights.

This call for proposals does not include any financial commitment. Researchers must obtain funds from customary sources.

This is an open call without deadline
